May Day court introduced

MIFFLINTOWN — Members of the Juniata High School May Day Court have been announced. May Day will be held at 7 p.m. May 5 at the high school.

Senior attendants

≤ Jordan Abram, the daughter of Jeffrey and Joy Abram, of Mifflintown, is enrolled in the college preparatory and AP curriculums. Her school activities include concert band, marching band, chorus, jazz band, district jazz band, district band, regional band, district chorus, Student Council and Kid Writing. Abram does barrel racing with the National Barrel Horse Association. Her future plans are to attend Wilson College for veterinary medical technology and then go to vet school. Abram’s escort is Bailey Hackenberry, son of Matthew and Tricia Hackenberry, of Mifflintown.

≤ Lilly Brown, the daughter of Jeff and Barbie Brown, of Mifflintown, is enrolled in the business curriculum. Her school activities include fall and winter cheerleading, SADD vice president, Homecoming Court, Sweetheart Court, Scholastic J, Varsity J, Kid Writing and yearbook photographer. Brown is a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and the FAME All-Star Cheerleaders. Her future plans are to attend Shippensburg University to study elementary education, and to get married and have a family someday. Brown’s escort is Isaiah Wagner, son of Mike and Aimee Wagner, of Port Royal.

≤ Kiersten Clark, the daughter of Angela and Michael Clark, of Mifflintown, is enrolled in the business and vocational curriculums. Her school activities include fall cheerleading captain, winter cheerleading, majorette, HOSA president, SWEETS secretary, SADD president, Key Club, Student Council, Varsity J, yearbook staff, Kid Writing, Drama Club, freshman May Day attendant, Sweetheart Court and Snow King escort. Clark is a BIG 33 cheerleader, a Special Olympics volunteer, the Juniata County Veterans’ Queen and she works at Cora’s Creekside Tavern, the Port Royal Speedway and Mifflin-Juniata Special Needs Center. Her future plans are to attend Penn College of Technology to become an occupational therapy assistant. Clark’s escort is Zack Snyder, son of Patty and Danny Snyder, of Mifflintown.

≤ Shelbi Dowling, the daughter of Greg and Tobi Dowling, of Mifflintown, is enrolled in the business curriculum. Her school activities include HOSA, yearbook staff, SWEETS and Kid Writing. Dowling is a volunteer at Locust Grove and works at Dean’s Store. Her future plans are to attend HACC for registered nursing and then to go to Pittsburgh University to become a certified nurse midwife. She also hopes to get married and have a family someday. Shelbi’s escort is Tyler Bryner, son of Kaci Blessing and Chris Bryner, of Port Royal.

≤Josie Rice, the daughter of Jessica Rice and Christopher Rice, of East Waterford, is enrolled in the college preparatory and advance placement curriculums. Her school activities include marching band, concert band, Fusfoo staff, yearbook staff, National Honor Society, majorette squad, Poetry Out Loud, Kid Writing, Drama Club, the gifted program and May Day emcee. Rice is a volunteer at Lack Tuscarora EMS, works at the Christian Retreat Center, and is a member of the East Waterford Presbyterian Church. Her future plans are to attend college to major in pre-med and specialize in anesthesiology. Rice’s escort is Noah Burns, son of Nevin and Kyleen Burns, of Thompsontown.

≤ Maddy Walters, the daughter of Marci and Jim Walters, of Port Royal, is enrolled in the college preparatory curriculum. Her school activities include field hockey, track, jazz band, concert band, pit band, majorette co-captain in marching band, Key Club, SADD, National Honor Society vice president, chorus, yearbook staff and Kid Writing. Walters is a dancer at Margaret McCann School of Dance, attends the Port Royal Presbyterian Church and is a lifeguard at the Mifflin pool. Her future plans are to attend East Stroudsburg University to become an athletic trainer, and to have a family. Walters’ escort is Chase Goodwin, son of Rich and Heidi Goodwin, of Mifflin.

Junior attendant

Karrigan Zeiders, the daughter of Shannon and Bill Zeiders, of Mifflintown, is enrolled in the college preparatory curriculum. Her school activities include jazz band, concert band, marching band, chorus, the musical, co-editor of the Newspaper Club, SADD, National Honor Society and May Day. Zeiders is a member of her church youth group. Her future plans are to continue her education to pursue a career as a teacher. Zeiders’ escort is Colton Jones, son of Brandon and Brenda Jones, of Mifflin.

Sophomore attendant

Laney Dowling, the daughter of Jeff and Rachel Dowling, of Mifflintown, is enrolled in the college preparatory curriculum. Her school activities include field hockey, softball, concert band and marching band. Dowling attends Westminster United Presbyterian Church and plays travel field hockey. Her future plans are to attend college and continue playing field hockey. Laney’s escort is Chase Lehman, son of Dave and Amber Lehman, of Tuscarora.

Freshman attendant

Jayla Burdge, the daughter of Danny and Melinda Burdge of Reeds Gap, is enrolled in the business curriculum. Her school activities include FFA and chorus. Burdge’s future plans are to become a pediatrician. Her escort is Peyton Harris, son of Bill and Beth Harris, of Mifflintown.
