Homecoming activities at Juniata High School will take place during halftime of the Juniata Huntingdon football game on Sept. 30 at Dietrick Field.
The homecoming queen candidates were selected by various extracurricular clubs at Juniata High School to represent academics, the arts, athletics, career and technical student organizations, and service organizations as well as a senior class representative.
Senior candidates selected were Lauren Hart, Diana Kauffman, Lilly Brown, Sarah Goshorn, Julie Swartz, Brenna Strawser; escorts, Sean Fitzgerald, Nathan Henry, Tyler Bryner, Bailey Hackenberry, Chase Goodwin and Eli Lenig.
Lauren Hart is the daughter of Jeff and Amy Hart, of Mifflin. She was selected as the National Honor Society representative and is enrolled in the college preparatory program at Juniata. She plans to continue her education at a four year school in order to pursue a degree in psychology. Her school activities include National Honor Society, SADD, Key Club, concert band, and she is a member of the silk squad in the marching band.
Outside of school, Hart attends St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church and participates in dance at the Margaret McCann School of Dance.
Her escort for the evening will be Sean Fitzgerald, son of Mike and Tracy Fitzgerald, of Port Royal.
Diana Kauffman is the daughter of Larry and Cheryl Kauffman, of Mifflintown. She represents FFA and HOSA and is enrolled in the academic and agricultural programs at Juniata.
Her plans after graduation are to attend college in order to become a veterinarian or animal behaviorist, and to own her own business.
In school she is a member of the Future Farmers of America, in which she serves as the chaplain.
Outside of school Kauffman works at Fox’s Pizza.
Her escort for the evening will be Nathan Henry, son of Charles Henry and Elaine Martin, of East Waterford.
Lilly Brown is the daughter of Jeff and Barbie Brown, of Mifflintown. She represents the service organizations and is enrolled in the college preparatory curriculum at Juniata. She plans to attend a four year college after graduation to study elementary education. Her activities include fall and winter cheerleading, track and field manager, Varsity J, school musicals, Drama Club secretary and SADD. Outside of school she is a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and FAME All-Stars Cheerleading.
Her escort for the evening will be Tyler Bryner, son of Chris Bryner and Kaci Bryner, of Port Royal.
Sarah Goshorn is the daughter of Jim and Kristie Goshorn, of Port Royal. She represents the Class of 2017 and is enrolled in the college preparatory program. She plans to attend a four year college to pursue a degree in psychology.
Her school activities include soccer, wrestling manager, track and field, Varsity J, Key Club, National Honor Society president, student council, SADD, and senior class student council representative.
Outside of school Goshorn is a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, works for Buttonwood Campground and plays travel soccer.
Her escort for the evening will be Bailey Hackenberry, son of Matthew and Tricia Hackenberry, of Mifflintown.
Julie Swartz is the daughter of Joel and Jill Swartz, of Mifflintown. She was chosen to represent the Varsity J club, and is enrolled in the college preparatory program. She plans to attend a four year college after graduation to study nursing.
Her school activities include soccer, basketball, track and field, Varsity J, National Honor Society, SADD, and Drama Club. Outside of school she attends New Harvest Community Church and plays travel soccer for LDC United.
Her escort for the evening will be Chase Goodwin, son of Rich and Heidi Goodwin, of Mifflin.
Brenna Strawser is the daughter of Brian and Kelli Strawser, of Port Royal. She was selected as the arts representative, and is enrolled in the college preparatory curriculum. She plans to attend college to study physical therapy. She is a member of soccer, marching band (drum major), concert band, jazz band, Key Club, SADD, National Honor Society (student council representative), senior class historian, T.E.A.M., student council, Varsity J, Drama Club president, technical and lighting crew for school musicals, and yearbook staff.
Strawser is a member of the Port Royal Lutheran Church, is employed by Buttonwood Campground and Juniata Valley Winery, and plays travel soccer.
Her escort for the evening will be Eli Lenig, son of Jamie Hartley-Arnold, of Port Royal, and Kevin Lenig, of Shamokin.
