LEWISTOWN – The Stone Arch Players will present their first full teen production this summer at the Theatre-in-the-Park, Kish Park, Lewistown. “The Audition,” written by Don Zolidis, features 15 local teens in two public performances, scheduled for 7 p.m. on July 30, and 2 p.m. on July 31.
In the play, a new theater teacher is bringing a production of “A Chorus Line” to the high school. Though the hopefuls range from shy to outrageous, and from diva-like to determined, everyone has a chance to step into the spotlight. The show is a hilarious and heartbreaking look at the madness of auditioning and the actors who brave the process for that perfect part.
Director Phyllis Johnson and co-director Julie Ufema cast the teens after two rounds of auditions in June. Cast members include Megan Craver, Abbey Davis, Abby Fleming, Levi Gilbert, Cassie Himes, Cheyenne Johnson, Kenzie McCarter, Emma Mianulli, Paige Putt, Bryan Queitzsch, Jacob Reehorst, Paige Smith, Caleb Stalnaker, Jonathan Yourchak, and Francesca Zannino. Many of the teens are alumni of the Stone Arch Players’ youth program.
Tickets for both productions are $5 general admission, under 2, free. There will be no reserve seating for either production. Tickets may be reserved in advance by calling the box office at 248-2224. Leave a message with your name, phone number and show dates and number of tickets requested. Production staff will be in contact to confirm reservations.
The 2016-2017 season marks the Stone Arch Players’ 50th season entertaining audiences in the Juniata River Valley. Starting from borrowed space at the Chief Logan High School Auditorium, the Stone Arch Players now host three regular season productions, in addition to its rapidly expanding youth/teen programs, at the Theatre-In-The-Park in Kish Park.
