An iron gate marks the entrance to the cemetery, owned by Mifflin County and located in Derry Township, that holds nearly 300 graves of local people who died with no family. Although the graves lack headstones, a list of some of those buried in the Potter’s Field cemetery, some with names and some listed only as “tramp,” can be found by the entrance gate. The first recorded burial in the cemetery was in 1852
