LEWISTOWN – The annual “Let Freedom Ring” concert will take place at 7 p.m. Friday in front of the Embassy Theater on South Main Street, Lewistown, presented by the Lewistown Community Band, under the direction of Peter Marsh and assistant director, Terri Limes.

The program will contain contemporary music of the Eagles, Star Trek series, Aaron Copland and, for the younger children and those young at heart, a medley of Disney tunes.

The chorus will bring to life Emma Lazarus’ words through Irving Berlin’s “Give Me Your Tired Your Poor,” accompanied by Patty Loudenslager at the piano.

The band will join the chorus to present “Irving Berlin’s America,” a setting of some familiar songs including, “There’s No Business Like Show Business,” “Always,” and “God Bless America.”

The chorus will conclude with a tribute to our veterans, performing “Armed Forces-The Pride of America.”

Commander Brad Williams, of the Veterans Serving Veterans Organization, Central Pennsylvania Chapter, will share some insight into the four Medal of Honor recipients from Mifflin County.

The honor guard from The Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post No. 7011, will assist Williams with the tribute to the Armed Forces.

Back again for their seventh appearance with the band will be students from Miss Stephanie’s School of Dance, entertaining to the George Cohan tune “Give My Regards To Broadway.”

The dancers include Kristin Hess, Bryn Ferguson, Amanda Foltz, Megan Harshbarger, Olivia Wagner, Chloe Woods, Mady Kenepp, Sophie Piper, Katrina Groce.

Also sharing a musical surprise from the World War II era will be the “Sisters of Song,” comprised of Stephanie Diehl, Lori Thomas, Pauli Belfoire, Gail Case, Kathleen Becker, Chris Ferencz and Freda Richard.

Bring a lawn chair and a hand held flag. At the sound of the final march, “Stars and Stripes Forever,” the audience may raise the flags to “Let Freedom Ring.”

Rain date for the band concert will be 7 p.m. Sunday.
