SIGLERVILLE – The third annual Freedom Festival in Siglerville will kick off on Sunday on the grounds of the Siglerville Congregational Church.
All activities will be outside for the festival, including morning worship from 9:30 to 11 a.m.
“This is all based upon capturing the faith of our founding fathers,” Mick Abrashoff said, who is one of the events organizers.
New to the event this year is George Washington impersonator Samuel Davis, from New Jersey who has offered many historical re-enactments for places like Trenton, New Jersey and Cumberland.
“He will give a talk on divine intervention during Revolutionary War battles,” Abrashoff said, adding that people will be able to speak with him during the festival.
For those attending worship services, there will be a barbecue immediately following, from 11 a.m. until noon. After the meal, there will be a musical program featuring R.B. Powell and The Unusual Suspects.
“There will be a magnificent Revolutionary War camp, a replica of George Washington’s tent. It’s a pretty neat event,” Abrashoff said.
Abrashoff expects a good turnout to this year’s festival, to see the Revolutionary War re-enactors from the 5th Battalion Cumberland County Militia.
Abrashoff said there will also be a tomahawk throw, colonial games for children and a series of drills and demonstrations from the re-enactors.
