LEWISTOWN- Writing is as easy as apple pie for author Amy Lillard.
Lillard is from Tulsa, Oklahoma, and will meet with readers at the Mifflin and Juniata County libraries next month.
Lillard is known for writing Amish mystery, Amish romance and western romance books. She will promote her latest works, Amish romance “Just Plain Sadie,” the cowboy romance “Loving a Lawman,” and an Amish mystery “Shoo Fly Shoo.”
The author will appear at 1 p.m. on July 11, at the Lewistown branch of the Mifflin County Library on 123 N. Wayne St., 3:30 p.m. at the Belleville branch on 174 N. Penn St., and at 6 p.m. at the Juniata County Library on 498 Jefferson St., Mifflintown.
Lillard’s website depicts her “sweet as apple pie” genre in the form of heart-shaped apples. Lillard said her reasoning behind the apple pie notion is about pure simplicity.
“(It) is used to identify the tone of my books. The books are sweet, not dark, easy reads, fun … Everything you picture a small town being. Some women want to escape the hustle and bustle and negativity of the world. I also extended my apple pie idea and created a rating system for my books to help readers choose the book that is right for them.”
Lillard began writing novels back in 1992, but never got published until 2011, through an e-publisher.
“During that time my agent suggested I write Amish romance. After I realized she wasn’t kidding, I gave it a try. ‘Saving Gideon’ was released October, 2012.”
Lillard’s new career has taken off with a series of websites that highlight each genre: amywritesromance.com, amysamishadventures.com, lovelesstexasseries.com, and cattlecreekseries.com.
Lillard enjoys meeting all of her fans, many of whom follow her on her Facebook page: facebook.com/Amy-Lillard-Author/
“The best part about meeting my readers is that even though I am ‘friends’ with many of my readers on Facebook, it’s nice to put a real face to a Facebook photo.”
