MIFFLINTOWN – The Second Annual Oldies Dance will be held from 7:30 to 10:30 on April 22 at the CJEMS Building in Mifflintown.
This dance will benefit the Juniata County Food Pantry and the Juniata County Library. The cost is $10 per person.
Listeners will hear music from the ’50s and ’60s, but also oldies from the ’70s and ’80s as DJ Charlie Stump will be on hand to provide the music.
Stump served as disc jockey for the Royal Bandstand dances in the early 1960s while he attended college. After graduating from Shippensburg University in 1964, he moved on from the Royal Bandstand dances to become a professional disc jockey for WKVA radio in Lewistown. Now retired, Stump does some volunteer radio work for Christian radio WRXV FM.
He also was the DJ for the very successful Royal Bandstand Reunions in 2011 and 2012, when dancers packed the Port Royal Community Building.
When the Juniata County Food Pantry and library decided to do a fund raiser in 2015, Stump was also the DJ they turned to. With his knowledge of oldies music, dance contests and “Name that Tune” contests, the 2015 Oldies Dance benefitting the library and food pantry was a fun night for all attendees.
In addition to the dance, the kitchen will open at 7 p.m. with caterer Diane Cunningham offering an expanded dinner menu.
