Ford to build $3.5B EV battery plant

By TOM KRISHER and JOEY CAPELLETTI The Associated Press DETROIT — Ford Motor Co. plans to build a $3.5 billion factory in Michigan that would employ at least 2,500 people to make lower-cost batteries for a variety of new and existing electric vehicles. The plant, to be built on land being readied for industrial development about 100 miles (160 kilometers) west of Detroit, would start making batteries in 2026. NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks are rising Monday as Wall Street waits for a report to show whether inflation is continuing to cool or perhaps setting the market up for worse pain. The S&P 500 was 1.1% higher ahead of Tuesday’s report on inflation at the consumer level across the country. It’s coming off its worst week in nearly two months.
