Heritage Restaurant opens its doors

ALLENSVILLE -- The Heritage Family Restaurant opened their doors in June, with the goal of providing a place for families and friends to gather. Owners Ervin, Mary and Darren Hostetler began this endeavor in hopes of creating somewhere where faith and family values can be shared and passed through generations.
The Hostetlers decided to embark on this adventure because of Mary's enjoyment for cooking and baking. She has always enjoyed being in the kitchen, and she even won the title of "Champion Pie Baker" during the Reedsville Apple Festival in 2022. "This is something I've always wanted to do, it was something we could do together as a family," said Mary. They look forward to sharing their meals and cooking with the community.
The family saw an opportunity and a need for a homestyle restaurant in the Big Valley area. "The building was sitting here empty and it had been successful in the past," she said. The Hostetlers are especially grateful for the support and help from the previous owners of the building. They also appreciate the support from the community. "We wouldn't be able to do this without the people around us," said Mary.
The Heritage Family Restaurant is a restaurant that offers a full buffet that includes home-cooked favorites. The buffet has a soup and salad bar, ham, meatloaf, fried chicken, roast beef, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, veggies and a dessert bar with fresh baked goods. The fried chicken is the same recipe that was used by the former owners when the building was known as the Country Village Restaurant. The roast beef is made with beef sourced from the Hostetler's family farm. They also offer Ritchey's hand-dipped ice cream. Along with the buffet, they have a menu with numerous meal options, including burgers, sandwiches and salads.
The Heritage Family Restaurant will be launching their coffee shop within the next couple weeks, serving hot and iced coffee, hot chocolate, lattes and other various drinks. They also hope to offer quick, easy breakfast options such as avocado toast and parfaits. Their coffee is roasted in house, and served fresh. "We wanted to have something available that was quick and easy to get," said Mary.
While you're there, make sure to pick up some Burnt Cabins Grist Mill LLC. products. Heritage Family Restaurant is the only location in Big Valley to sell these products, which are made in Burnt Cabins, just under an hour away from the valley.
The Heritage Family Restaurant is open for business and looks forward to providing a place where friends and family gather for years to come.
The Heritage Family Restaurant is open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday.
