LEWISTOWN -- There's nothing better after a round of 18 holes of golf than a juicy cheeseburger at the Iron River Grille at the Lewistown Country Club.
Unless it's date night.
Now, the Iron River Grille is open to everyone, not just members of the country club. General manager Stephanie Stringfellow has noticed a lot of new faces at the Iron River Grille, since the restaurant opened its doors to non-LCC members late last year.
"We have a great staff and a very relaxed atmosphere," Stringfellow said. "The view from the patio and restaurant is the best in this town.
"We run different specials every week to spice things up," she added. "What makes us so special is we have great food at a great price, with a view you can't beat."
Promotional nights, such as Wing Night on Tuesdays and Burger Night on Wednesdays have become popular, along with hot dog or steak specials on Thursdays. Check their Facebook page for daily specials.
The restaurant's patio dining area offers a beautiful view of the 18th hole's green and the Juniata River as a backdrop.
"It has great scenery," Stringfellow said.
Stringfellow said there have been a lot of repeat customers. That's why the restaurant made the decision to open its doors to non-members.
The Iron River Grille also introduced a new menu recently, featuring a variety of different appetizers baby back rib nachos to caprese flatbread, along with sandwiches and salads. There is also a selection of burgers and bone-in or boneless wings, which can be paired with their fresh-cut fries.
Currently, the Iron River Grille's main entrees include filet mignon or sirloin steak; rack of baby back ribs; "catch of the day" fish; fettucine alfredo; spaghetti with meatballs or chicken bruschetta. Stringfellow says new entrees are coming to the menu for fall.
The inside dining area seats about 80 people and has bar and table service. Alongside the downstairs eating area, the Iron River Grille can accommodate weddings, class reunions, birthday parties and many other events. They also have a wrap-around bar and dance floor.
Takeout and delivery are also available.
Iron River Grille opens at 11 a.m. daily and stays open until 9 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, closing at 6 p.m. Sunday and 4 p.m. Monday.
