UNIVERSITY PARK -- A new initiative aimed at developing emerging and advanced technologies to enhance food production, agricultural ecosystems and natural resources will be one of the focal points of the College of Agricultural Sciences Exhibits Building at Penn State's 2025 Ag Progress Days, starting Tuesday.
Displays and presentations will highlight the college's recently launched Technology for Agriculture and Living Systems initiative. The initiative is designed to bring researchers and extension specialists together across disciplines to create real-world solutions that boost food production, protect Pennsylvania's natural landscapes and build healthier, more resilient communities for the future.
A series of presentations on topics related to displays in the College Exhibits Building will take place in the building's theater area:
Tuesday
• 10:30 a.m. -- Wild Bees of Pennsylvania
• 11 a.m. -- Evaluating Cropping and Feeding Strategies for Dairy Farm Sustainability Using a Virtual Farm Model
• 11:30 a.m. -- Powering Pennsylvania: Building a Unified Biogas Strategy Across Sectors
• Noon -- Spotted Lanternfly Update
Wednesday
• 10:30 a.m. -- Wild Bees of Pennsylvania
• 11 a.m. -- Using Soybeans in Dairy Rations: Opportunities and Considerations
• 11:30 a.m. -- Tech for Ag and Living Systems: Boosting Farm Efficiency with Smart Tech
• Noon -- Invasive Species Update
Thursday
• 10:30 a.m. -- Wild Bees of Pennsylvania
• 11 a.m. -- Precision Nutrition for Dairy Farms: From Concepts to Application
• 11:30 a.m. -- Tech for Ag and Living Systems: Using Technology to Protect Our Natural Resources
• Noon -- Spotted Lanternfly Research Update
Sponsored by Penn State's College of Agricultural Sciences, Ag Progress Days is held at the Russell E. Larson Agricultural Research Center at Rock Springs, 9 miles southwest of State College on Route 45. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 12; 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 13; and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 14. Admission and parking are free.
