Pumpkin production up, snap beans down in Pennsylvania

HARRISBURG — Pennsylvania pumpkin production is estimated at 1.09 million cwt, up 19% from the 2023 estimate, according to David Knopf, director of the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS), Northeastern Regional Field Office. The average yield per acre is estimated at 160 cwt, 10 cwt below the 2023 average yield of 170 cwt per acre. Area harvested is estimated at 6,800 acres, up 26% from last year. The value of production totaled $32.0 million, up 72% from 2023.

Pennsylvania snap bean production is estimated at 378 thousand cwt, down 7% from the 2023 estimate. The average yield per acre is estimated at 62 cwt, 5 cwt below the 2023 average yield of 67 cwt per acre. Area harvested is estimated at 6,100 acres, unchanged from last year. The value of production totaled $8.38 million, down 17% from 2023.
