MEXICO, Pa. -- Juniata County's 48th annual Dairy Princess Pageant was held May 5 at Walker Grange in Mexico.
Nine young people were recognized as dairy ambassadors, dairy maids and dairy misses. Chairperson Karen Shearer presented Steve Beers a check for $4,000 for the Juniata County Food Pantry from the Fill-A-Glass With Hope campaign the promotion court worked on during the past year. Dairy Ambassador Blaine Imes presented a speech explaining PA Preferred milk products. Dairy Maids Caylee Imes and Ella Zimmerman presented a skit explaining the importance of including milk in school lunches to ensure students receive the 13 essential vitamins and minerals.
Awards were handed out to all who participated in the dairy promotion last year, based on the number of promotions. Dairy Ambassador Kera Bentz was recognized for completing 66 of the 255 promotions held during the past year.
