Diet with dairy products important for busy schedule

2 min read

Hi! My name is Ella Zimmerman and I am a Juniata County Dairy Maid.

I am "on the go" all the time! I am in 4-H, Girl Scouts, play several instruments and play several sports. The recipe I am sharing is great for a busy schedule because it can be made ahead of time and bakes in about half an hour when you are ready for it. It also has several dairy products in it. It is important for me to eat dairy products because the nutrients in milk keeps my muscles, bones, teeth, skin and vision healthy. Also, the nutrients in milk releases energy from foods to reduce tiredness and fatigue. I get my three dairy products a day so I can keep up with my busy schedule.

Baked Spaghetti

1 box (8 oz.) spaghetti, broken into 2-inch pieces

2 Tablespoons butter

1/3 cup Parmesan cheese

1 egg, well beaten

1 cup cottage cheese

1 lb. hamburger

Chopped onion

1 jar (24 oz.) spaghetti sauce

4 oz. shredded mozzarella cheese

Cook spaghetti and drain. Place in a 9 x 13 baking dish. Stir in butter, Parmesan cheese and egg until mixed well. Spread mixture evenly in pan. Next, spread cottage cheese on top of spaghetti.

Cook hamburger and onion. Drain grease. Stir in spaghetti sauce. Spread over cottage cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over top and bake an additional 10 minutes or until cheese has melted.

Starting at /week.
