MIFFLINTOWN -- The Penn State Extension office in Mifflintown offers in-person training that does not require a computer for certified pesticide applicators who are in need of training for use of paraquat dichloride. A binder containing the learning material is available for users to read. A 15-question multiple-choice test must be completed. You must score a 100% and you can retake the test as many times as you need. It takes about 45-60 minutes to complete the training.
Those who are comfortable using the computer may simply Google "paraquat training" to access the EPA website. To access the training module from the EPA page, click on the "EPA-approved training module can be accessed here" in the second paragraph. If you are computer-literate and would like to take the training online but do not have a computer available, you are welcome to use a computer at the Extension office.
For either training option at the Extension office, paper or computer, please call before you come in to be sure someone can assist you. Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a certificate to keep for your records. Call the office at (717) 436-7744 or email Leah Fronk at lxf339@psu.edu to set up an appointment.
