LEWISTOWN -- As the new school year began, familiar faces took on new leadership roles at Mifflin County High School.

Mifflin County High School welcomed back Joseph Daubert as he stepped into his new role as assistant principal for the 2026-2027 school year. Daubert's most important goal for this year is to "be a positive asset to the MCHS Administration team and teachers."

A graduate of Indian Valley High School, Daubert was a stand-out wrestler, receiving a full scholarship to compete at Edinboro University before transferring to Lock Haven University. Upon graduation from Lock Haven, he earned his master's degree from Wilkes College before accepting his first teaching position in Mifflin County in 2004.

His favorite aspect of being a part of the administrative team is "the interactions he is able to have with both students and teachers." He is also looking forward to working with some of the same students he had in physical education classes last year in a different role. He emphasized that "being part of Mifflin County has given me an opportunity to learn and grow as a teacher and an administrator."

He said that Mr. Campagna, Mrs. Ruble and superintendent Vance Varner have been immensely supportive, and he greatly appreciates their assistance to improve his transition.

Campagna said, "He has been easy to work with and he is willing to learn our system and listen to our input. He brings administrative experience that has been quite helpful, too."

When he isn't at work, Daubert enjoys fly fishing, the outdoors and athletics. This summer, he spent two months in Montana fly fishing. As a way to share his love for fly fishing, he started the Fly-Fishing Club at Indian Valley, which he later brought to MCHS. In the past, Daubert coached both football and wrestling.

Mifflin County High School is a familiar face in the office of the athletic director this year. Robert Lepley moved into the position of Mifflin County School District athletic director after being the assistant athletic director while teaching social studies for the past seven years.

"Being the athletic director, to me, means to find a positive every day and try to create a good experience for our student athletes," Lepley said.

Mifflin County student athletes must balance their academic responsibilities and athletic demands. As the athletic director, Lepley cares about the athletes as individuals as well as about their education. This holistic attitude is a great asset to the district.

In Lepley's time as assistant athletic director, he learned the expectations and responsibilities of the position, but as the AD, it is "more intense and has more volume," he said.

"Every day, we have many games and events that we must coordinate," Lepley explained.

The athletic office has many responsibilities, "like game worker sheets, official sheets, and money boxes. We have to count money, budget, and find transportation. Essentially, make sure everything is aligned."

The athletic department enables the district to host sporting events for students and for the community to watch in real time.

Lepley wants to add to the athletic experience in many ways. "I want to grow the athletic department. I want to take a look at student needs, like what do we add? What is working? What is not working? I want to build up our facilities even more before I retire. My main goal is to make sure everyone has a good experience," Lepley said.

Daubert and Lepley bring years of experience and insight into their new positions, and the students and staff of Mifflin County High School look forward to their leadership this school year.
