Join Pets Come First this fall at some of our favorite events. Fall is such a fun time for us. We are gearing up for our annual Subaru Raffle and participating in several great local events. Tickets for our annual Subaru giveaway are on sale now. You can win $20,000 or a new Subaru Crosstrek. You can buy tickets at Stocker Subaru, Wiscoy for Pets and The Pet Pub in State College, Maria's Italian Restaurant in Bellefonte and Lerch RV in Milroy. The drawing will be held at Stocker Subaru in State College on Wednesday Oct. 14. For more information, go to our website and click on "News."
We want to give a huge shout out to all our supporters who donated for our Warm Paws Save Lives fundraising event. The Warm Paws, Save Lives campaign has already made an incredible difference for the animals and staff at Pets Come First. Three furnaces and A/C units have now been replaced, bringing reliable heating and cooling to areas of our shelter that desperately needed it. As temperatures begin to drop over the next few weeks, the dogs in our large-dog kennels will have dependable heat to help keep them warm, comfortable and as stress-free as possible while they wait for their forever homes.
Next month, we will begin insulating the building and installing new siding, along with completing additional critical renovations that we are excited to share with you in October. These improvements will make our shelter more comfortable and energy efficient for years to come. We could not have gotten this far without our supporters.
Even after our renovations are complete, Pets Come First will have an ongoing need that comes every winter and summer: keeping our animals warm in the winter and cool in the summer. If you follow us on social media, you will be hearing more about our plans to improve our shelter. So be on the lookout for ways to continue helping Pets Come First.

Dogs available for adoption
Shadow
Shadow is a senior gentleman, maybe around nine, and as you can see, life hasn't always been kind to him. But this boy hasn't missed a beat. He absolutely loves people and has done well with the other dogs at the shelter. When Shadow first arrived, he could barely gather the strength to walk. Now look at him. With walks and lots of love, he's getting stronger every day. And don't let his age fool you. Shadow is still playful. He loves toys and was even trying to convince Twinkles the Corgi to join him for some fun.
Jett
Jett is a seven-month-old boy who is such a sweet, affectionate young boy with so much love to give. Like any puppy, with a little guidance, patience and a family who will let him continue to learn and grow, I truly believe he is going to be an amazing companion. Jett is waiting for his forever family.
Tank
Tank is a four-and-a-half-year-old baby. He is a sweet hippo for sure. From the moment you meet him, he will be your friend. We all immediately fell in love. Tank is a chunky guy and strong but very loving. He would need to be the only pet in the house but we don't think you would need anyone else with him around.
Sonic
Sonic is a 10-month-old German Shepherd mix. He is a medium-sized dog, about 45 pounds, who has grown into a very lovable guy. He has puppy energy and needs training, which we have been working on. He would do best in a home with people who love to be outside and exercise.
Cats Available for Adoption
We have dozens of cats just waiting for a new home. Here are just a few.
Shade
Shade is a gorgeous seven-year-old blue/gray girl who is very petite. She has short hair and big green eyes. She is friendly and loves to take long naps on the cat couch.
Dolly Parton
We named this girl in honor of Dolly Parton, and she is living up to her name. She is the sweetest little thing, only a-year-old. She has beautiful striped fur and big green eyes. Come visit Dolly and she if you have found a new friend who will always love you.
Begonia
This little girl is only five-years-old. She is a beautiful gray/white mix. Super friendly and loves to nap and play with her kitty toys.
