Sue and Fred Saxton, of Lewistown, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Oct. 10, 2014.
They were married on Oct. 10, 1964, at Grove Memorial United Methodist Church by Rev. Fred Moore.
Sue is the daughter of the late Millard and Anna Griffith. Fred is the son of the late James and Goldie Saxton.
They are the parents of Stewart Saxton, of Pittsburgh; Jennifer Robinette, of Lewistown; and the late Mark Saxton. The couple has seven grandchildren.
In celebration of the special anniversary, the couple’s children and their families treated them to an Autumnfest getaway vacation at Seven Springs Resort. The couple was also honored at a dinner at Seven Springs by Jennifer, Stewart and his fiancee, Kristine McGuire, and three of their grandchildren, Marly Saxton, Tanner Saxton and Drew Saxton.
Both Sue and Fred are retired, but Fred still works part time. They remain active and enjoy traveling and spending time along the Juniata River with family. They are also active in their church, and do volunteer work. She has done volunteer work for the Central Pennsylvania Alzheimer’s Association, and Fred gives his time and efforts to the Mifflin County Historical Society.
They enjoy their grandchildren and follow and support them in their various activities.
