Stress test after heart attack causes patient to worry

DEAR DR. ROACH: My 85-year-old mother-in-law had a mild heart attack a few days ago. She didn’t immediately take the nitroglycerin she had on hand. She has a pacemaker, and it reported the event to her heart doctor. Upon seeing the anomaly, her doctor called and asked her to undergo a nuclear stress test. She had one done eight years ago, and it made her very uncomfortable. She is fearful that she may not survive another one. She and her husband lead a fairly comfortable, stress-free life, with the exception that they watch hours of cable news daily. I think she should avoid news, ...

Dear Heloise: Why is it that no one sends thank-you notes or cards anymore? I taught my daughters to always write a note of appreciation to let people know you received their gift and, if possible, how you planned to use it or something nice about the gift. People still in their 20s and 30s spoke painfully of their disappointments. They had planned to make many millions on internet startups, but the dot-com market crashed before they could pile up the first seven figures. One 29-year-old had ...
