Lions collect four medals at U23 Championships

UNIVERSITY PARK – Seven Penn State wrestlers took part in the United World Wrestling U23 World Championships in Novi Sad, Serbia, this weekend. Four of those seven Nittany Lions brought home U23 World Championships and Gold Medals while another won Bronze. The United States U23 World Team featured ten wrestlers, seven of whom were current Nittany Lions. Junior Mitchell Mesenbrink won the Gold Medal at 74 kg. UNIVERSITY PARK – The Penn State men’s fencing teams had its first day of competition of the season at the Nikki Franke Invitational at Temple University in Philadelphia, on Sunday, October 26. The second day of the Nikki Franke Invitational began at 8 a.m. with men’s epee, which featured senior fencer Vasil Ivakimov. UNIVERSITY PARK – The Penn State Nittany Lion field hockey team (7-9, 2-5 B1G) lost a 6-1 game at No. 5 Princeton (12-3) in non-conference field hockey action on Sunday in New Jersey. Princeton broke open a close game with a four-goal third period to post the win in New Jersey. UNIVERSITY PARK – The Penn State men’s basketball team used a strong first half to fuel an 86-67 exhibition game victory over Shippensburg Sunday afternoon inside the Bryce Jordan Center. UNIVERSITY PARK – The Penn State Nittany Lion field hockey team (7-8, 2-5 B1G) rolled to an 8-0 shutout win at Lock Haven (0-16) in non-conference field hockey action on Friday afternoon.
