Happy St. Patrick’s Day from the kitchen. I don’t have Irish in my background but I’m always excited to try foods from different parts of the world. Did you know that Irish stew is considered to be Ireland’s national dish? And soda bread is their bread of choice. I had to give that a try. So, I decided to make corned beef and cabbage, Irish soda bread and Irish tea cake to celebrate the Irish food culture on St. Patrick’s Day. Glad I tried these recipes. There was a lot going on for the Mifflin County Library in 1975. First, the Mifflin County Library in Lewistown opened in its new building on North Wayne Street on this very day, March 9. Second, the Kish Branch Library opened in its new building in April. It began with a touch — Mark 1:29-34 He just touched her. Jesus was visiting in the home of Simon Peter. Simon’s mother-in-law was sick in bed with a high fever. Without anyone saying a word about her illness Jesus went over to her, touched her, and lifted her up. Immediately she was healed. Notice Jesus never said a word; he just touched her.
