JOHNSTOWN -- The American Red Cross Pennsylvania Mountains Chapter needs special volunteers to deliver blood products to hospitals and provide the vital link between blood donors and patients who need blood products.
Volunteers in the blood transportation specialist position have two important assignments -- to transport blood from our blood collection sites throughout the Greater Pennsylvania region to our lab in Johnstown for testing and processing, and to deliver blood products to hospitals in the area using a Red Cross-owned vehicle.
Interested volunteers can join a virtual "lunch and learn" from noon to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, June 8.
The event is a free introductory discussion hosted over Zoom and allows potential volunteers to learn more about the position and ask questions.
Interested volunteers may also join in-person tours of the Red Cross Biomedical Processing Facility, located at 250 Jari Drive in Johnstown, from 10 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 3 p.m. June 22.
