Lions hold off Blair Co. Christian in a thriller

MIFFLINTOWN – The Juniata Christian School boys basketball team used a second-half surge to down visiting Blair County Christian, 51-42 in an Allegheny Christian Athletic Association contest on Tuesday night.

The Lions (1-2) trailed by three at the break but Juniata Christian held Blair County Christian to just 15 points in the second half in the victory. Juniata Christian erupted for 27 points in the second half as Nevin Yorks and Luke Sheaffer carried the way offensively.

Yorks scored a game-high 20 points, while Sheaffer added 17 of his own. Anson Portzline, Trevor Brubaker, Trey Tusing and Owen Yorks also scored for the Lions. The Lions shot an impressive 21-of-30 at the free-throw line in the win.

Blair County Christian was led by Davis Dull who scored 13 points.

The Lions return to action on Friday when they travels to Columbia County Christian.
