MILROY -- If you would have left the Belltown-Milroy Babe Ruth game early on Monday night, you would have been surprised by the final score.
Milroy led 5-0 after four innings and 5-2 after five. But, Belltown rallied for an 8-5 victory for its third win in a row. It was the only game played in the Mifflin County Babe Ruth League.
Belltown started its comeback in the top of the fourth with two runs. The rally started when Kaden Baker laid down a perfect bunt for a base hit. Colton Leister walked and Logan Bumgardner had an RBI-base hit. Bumgardner and Leister pulled off a double steal and Leister scored, but Bumgardner was out.
Belltown picked up another run in the sixth on three walks and a groundout RBI from Jacob Parker-Fultz. Then in the seventh, Belltown pulled off the win with a six-run inning.
Belltown got four free passes, a wild pitch that scored a run and had two hits. Kyler Baker had a single, but the big blast came from RJ Link, a three-run double.
Milroy wasted a strong pitching performance from Chase Krepps. Krepps went the first five innings. He gave up just two hits, walked four and struck out nine.
Milroy, which outhit Belltown, 7-4, scored a run in the first as Krepps singled, stole second and went to third on a throwing error by Belltown. He scored on a groundout by Karl Shirey.
Milroy added another run in the second and scored two more in the third. Krepps had an RBI double and Jaren Kenny had a sacrifice fly in the third.
Caleb Phillips opened the fourth stanza with a double and scored on a base hit from Cohen Ritchey.
Krepps was the only multiple hitter for Milroy with two. Belltown only had four hits.
Kale Beaver started for Belltown and went three innings. Jacob Parker-Fultz pitched the middle innings and Luke Shawver, the Belltown closer, came in to finish the sixth and threw a shutout inning in the seventh. Shawver got the win in relief.
