McVeytown no-hits Milroy

MCVEYTOWN — McVeytown’s Cullen Busch and Carson Cherry combined for a no-hitter Friday night in a 12-0 win over Milroy in the Mifflin County Babe Ruth League. The game ended after five innings due to the 10-run rule.

Busch went the first two and a third innings. He walked two and struck out seven. Cherry finished the game with five straight outs including four strikeouts.

McVeytown scored five runs in the first inning and wrapped up the game with seven in the third.

The winners finished with eight hits. Shane Moist and Easton Stonerook each had two. Jake Knable had McVeytown’s only extra-base hit, a run-scoring double in the first.

Milroy committed six errors, had two wild pitches that scored runs and had a balk that produced another run for McVeytown.

The only runners that got on base for Milroy was Karl Shirey, who walked and reached base on an error and Thad Gerwick, who also walked.

BELLEVILLE 10, STRODES MILLS 1

BELLEVILLE — Strodes Mills was ahead of Belleville, 1-0, going into the bottom of the fourth, but couldn’t hold onto the lead. Belleville scored 10 runs over the last three innings to take a 10-1 win.

Jayden Kaffman started for Belleville, but was taken out in the fourth for Regan Varner. Varner got the win and is now 2-0. Jaden King finished the game in the seventh.

Belleville had seven hits with Landon Rhodes and Levi Sharp each getting two.

Strodes Mills finished with three hits with Ezra Beamer and Kayden Hook each getting doubles.

The other hit for Strodes came from Dylan Stahl, a single.

Beamer pitched into the fourth and had seven strikeouts and a perfect game after three innings.

BEAVER SPRINGS 14, LEWISTOWN 2

LEWISTOWN — Beaver Springs’ Drake Grohowski and Landon Keister combined for a two-hitter as Springs topped Lewistown, 14-2. The game ended after five innings due to the 10-run rule.

Springs’ offense sparkled on Friday as it came up with 14 hits. Derek Keister led the way with three hits and River Knepp also chipped in with three. Maverick Smith, Ean Walter and Grohowski each had two hits. Knepp, Smith and Max Trawitz each had doubles. Both of Grohowski’s hits went for two bases.

Both of Lewistown’s hits came from Landon Bowen, who had Lewistown’s only extra-base hit, a triple.
