Thundering Herd best Huskies, 17-6

CARLISLE –Mifflin County girls lacrosse fell on the road, 17-6, to Carlisle on Wednesday.

Senior attacker Mara Gallo finished the evening with five goals. Savannah Powell added one goal.

Krista Whitesel and Hannah Sharp each had an assist. Goalie Joshlyn Tate had nine saves.

The Lady Huskies travel to State College on Tuesday.

TENNIS

Huskies top Cougars, 3-2

PALMYRA — Mifflin County tennis beat Palmyra Wednesday, 3-2.

Husky Aidan Newlen beat Jacob Cote, 6-4, 7-5, in singles play. Landon Mazur got a 5-7, 6-3, 6-2, victory over Alfred Nazeeri. Logan Breneman lost to Palmyra’s Nathan Hoke, 6-2, 0-6, 3-6.

In doubles play, Palmyra’s Jack Wilson and Joe Morgan beat Reese Hine and Luke Foltz, 7-5, 6-3.

BASEBALL

Mustangs drop Green Dragons, 17-4

MIDDLEBURG — Midd-West baseball beat Lewisburg, 17-4.

Kyle Shupp had three hits and two RBIs for the victors. Braxton Smith added four ribbies, three hits and Kaden Walter belted a home run with three RBIs.

Colton Aumiller posted three hits with three RBIs for the winners.

Thundering Herd sweep Huskies

CARLISLE — In Tuesday’s track action, Carlisle boys beat Mifflin County, 98.50-50.50.

On the girls side, Carlisle won, 103-47.

In a tough meet against a solid Carlisle team, the Husky boys were able to capture a few first-place finishes with Wyatt Kauffman in the 800, Carter Smith in the 1600, Michael McNitt in the 300 Hurdles, and the 800-meter relay.

The Husky girls team’s first-place finishers were Lexie Anderson in the 3200, Kendall Cavanaugh in shot put and Ali Renninger in long jump and discus.

Next, the Huskies visit CD East on April 22.

SOFTBALL

Mustangs gallop past Green Dragons, 21-0

MIDDLEBURG — Midd-West scored 17 times in the second frame to beat Lewisburg softball on Tuesday, 21-0.

For Midd-West, Miley Beachel had three hits and four RBIs with four runs. Madison Swineford added two runs and two ribbies.

Kylie Mitch pitched three innings for the win. She had five strikeouts.

Midd-West had 11 total hits. Lewisburg had one.

Huskies fall to Eagles, 12-5

MECHANICSBURG — Mifflin County softball fell to Cumberland Valley on Tuesday, 12-5.

For the Huskies, Riley Hine tallied two RBIs with a home run and two runs. Jalee Bodtorf added two hits and Malaina Maxwell had two hits with a double and one RBI.

The Eagles scored five times in the first inning and five times in the sixth. They had 13 hits compared to the Huskies’ six hits.
