Raiders fall to ESU
SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women’s tennis team dropped a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division match against East Stroudsburg on a sunny Monday afternoon at Robb Sports Complex, as the Warriors won 7-0.
Shippensburg (6-10, 0-2 PSAC East) went up against East Stroudsburg (14-5, 3-0), the current top team in the Eastern Division, and came away with at least one point in five of six singles matches and two of three doubles flights.
Despite losing the doubles point early, sophomore Ava Kalist and senior Kendall Winters had a back-and-forth battle at No. 3 doubles, with ESU winning by a score of 6-2.
The Warriors swept singles. Sophomore Brinley Orris battled Bega Gotor at No. 6 singles in the longest match of the day, winning five games but falling by a score of 3-6, 2-6. Freshman Jade Miller won five games at No. 3 singles, falling 2-6, 3-6.
Senior Brooklynn Rupert won four games in the second set at No. 5 singles.
