Juniata guard hits milestone during Indians’ strong season

MIFFLINTOWN — Juniata girls basketball player Regan Lowrey said she doesn’t remember her first career bucket. But, last week she made a shot she won’t soon forget.

Lowrey reached the 1,000-point plateau for her career against Susquenita last Wednesday.

What makes the milestone memorable for Lowrey?

“My support system. My teammates I shared that moment with, my family all being there. And all my friends that traveled to see me do it,” Lowrey noted.

Juniata head coach Hannah Geedey knows how special of a player Lowrey is.

“Her drive to win and how competitive she is. She pushes her teammates to be better while pushing herself. She is a true team player and just wants to win,” Geedey said.

The Indians coach added that Lowrey knows how to handle adversity.

“She handles adversity with her teammates. She knows she isn’t the only one on the floor and she has four teammates to help,” Geedey highlighted.

Lowrey inspires her teammates weekly by putting her best foot forward.

“Even in practice she is always going all out. By her doing that it makes her teammates also give their all,” Geedey added.

Before this season, the 1,000-point milestone wasn’t on Lowrey’s radar.

“It really wasn’t until this year. At the beginning of the year I knew I was close. But when I got it I actually didn’t realize that was it,” the senior Juniata guard said.

Before their final two games of the regular season, the Indians were 14-6. Juniata hosts East Juniata today at 7:30 p.m.

As for Lowrey’s goals for the rest of her career, she just wants to “make it to the district championship and win.”

Starting at $2.99/week.
