Falcons dodge Huskies, 30-28
HUMMELSTOWN — Lower Dauphin defeated Mifflin County in girls basketball on Friday, 30-28.
For the Huskies, Mackenzie Peachey had 12 points and Maelyn Gingrich added six points. The Huskies hit six three-pointers.
For the Falcons, Alexa Misiolek tallied 14 points. Sydney More had seven points.
Dauphin outscored the Huskies in the opening half, 16-11.
In JV action, Lower Dauphin beat the Huskies, 36-12. Malaina Maxwell had five points.
Ferndale flies by BMS, 47-26
JOHNSTOWN — Ferndale girls basketball beat Belleville Mennonite on Friday, 47-26.
BMS (8-9, 5-4 ACAA) got 16 points from Karina Renno and Katelyn Renno added five.
Ferndale got 17 points from Deajah Chatman and Abby Barley tacked on 11.
BMS visits Johnstown Christian today.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Huskies lose to Falcons, 54-50
LEWISTOWN — Mifflin County fell in a classic against Lower Dauphin, losing 54-50 in an overtime thriller on Friday evening.
It was a back and forth game that was emotional and the Falcons made some key plays in overtime to get the win.
The MC boys had three players in double figures, with sophomore Jack Curry and senior Aidan Attivo leading the way with 13 points apiece. Junior Josh Hartzler was also in double figures with 10.
The JV Huskies got a huge OT win over the Falcons, winning 67-64.
It was a gutsy win, and a great comeback for a banged up JV squad.
Freshman Dylan Bonson led the way with 21 points, and sophomore Carson Franklin also was in double figures with 13.
The MC boys are back in action on Tuesday night when they host Mechanicsburg in their home finale. JV tips at 5:30 with Varsity to follow.
9TH GRADE
GIRLS BASKETBALL
The Mifflin County ninth grade girls basketball team fell to a tough Cumberland Valley squad in a 36-35 game on Friday.
Bella Yoder had a game-high 12 points for MC. Lily Curry and Jemma Kanagy each scored six points.
MC is now 13-3 and travels to Chambersburg on Monday for a 6 p.m. tip.
