ALTOONA — Mifflin County’s swim teams competed Wednesday at Altoona Area High School, but dropped both the boys and girls competitions to the Mountain Lions.

The girls were defeated by a score of 87-31 while the boys fell 120-30.

The Huskies’ lone event winner was Caden Kauffman with a time of 25.38 seconds in the boys 50-yard freestyle. Kauffman also brought home second in the 100-yard breaststroke. Cameron Forshey took second in the 100-yard freestyle for the Huskies.

For the girls, Isabella Ziegler earned a pair of second-place finishes in the 100-yard freestyle and the 200-yard individual medley. Kylie Strawser finished third in the 100-yard backstroke.

Mifflin County is next in action Feb. 18 at the Mid-Penn Plunge at Northern High School.

Wrestling

Mount Union 45,

Tussey Mountain 21

SAXTON — Tussey Mountain won four of the six contested bouts Wednesday evening, but thanks to receiving six forfeits, Mount Union won an Inter-County Conference dual meet 45-21 at Tussey Mountain High School.

The lone winners on the mat for the Trojans were Hunter Steel, who pinned the Titans’ Luke Brumbaugh in just 33 seconds at 138 pounds, and Jase Ripple, who earned a 5-4 decision over Tussey Mountain’s Kenneth Sheeder in the bout at 152.

The Titans earned bonus points in all four of their wins, getting two pins, a technical fall and a major decision.

Neither side could field a 120-pounder.

Mount Union concludes its dual meet season Feb. 10 at River View.
