Martin powers JCS to win on senior night

MCALISTERVILLE — Annika Martin carried Juniata Christian past Columbia County Christian in a 4-0 Allegheny Christian Athletic Association girls soccer game on Friday.

ìWe played a great first half of soccer tonight, but the fatigue of having our fourth game of the week seemed to hit us in the second half,î Lions coach Todd Taylor said. ìAnnika Martin had another good scoring night and our defense played well again. In the end, we held on for a shutout and a good win on our senior night.î

Martin led the Lions, scoring three of the team’s four goals of the game. The only other goal came from Peyton Burd.

Juniata Christian (5-2, 4-1) hosts Penns Valley on Thursday.

Girls Tennis

MECHANICSBURG – Mifflin County were defeated by Mechanicsburg on Friday, in girls tennis action, by the final score of 5-0.

Aja Binder forced her opponent Helena Henderson to three sets. After the losing the first set 6-3, Binder took the second set by the final of 6-4 before losing a close third set, 7-5.

Mifflin County hosts Red Land Monday.
