Juniata surrenders two late goals in 3-1 defeat

DUNCANNON — The Juniata Indians girls soccer team came up short against Susquenita in a Tri-Valley League match up on Tuesday. The Blackhawks used two second-half goals to get past the Indians.

In the first half, Susquenita jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, but a goal Ashlyn Pannebaker tied the score going into the half.

The Susquenita defense was lock down in the second half and allowed their offense to take over.

Juniata goalkeeper Hailey Kepner recorded 14 saves in the loss.

The Indians return to action as they host East Juniata on Saturday.

Golf

Bellefonte 5, Mifflin County 4

LEWISTOWN — The Huskies battled against the Bellefonte Raiders in match play at Lewistown Country Club, on Tuesday. The match was neck and neck, but the Raiders edged out a 5-4 win.

Tanner Ferguson and Bryson Bubb won their matches for the Huskies. Ferguson finished his match 1up while Bubb won convincingly, 4&3.

Owen Wise, Bradyn Eversole and Alex Kline all picked up a half-point as each of their matches played to a draw.

Going into doubles play, the Huskies led 3.5-2-5, but Bellefonte won two of the three doubles matches while earning a draw in the third to win the match.

Mifflin County (30-4 overall, 27-3 conference) looks to get back on track as they travel to take on Palmyra today.

Boys soccer

Midd-West 2, Selinsgrove 1 (2OT)

SELINSGROVE — The high-flying Midd-West offense was held to just two goals against Selinsgrove, but it proved to be enough as the Mustangs edged out the Seals, 2-1, in double overtime.

Noah Romig got Midd-West on the board in the first half and took a 1-0 lead into the half. A Selinsgrove goal in the second knotted the score at 1, which is where the score remained at the end of regulation.

Five minutes in to the second overtime Kynn Loss netted the golden goal on an assist from Nathan Hartman to with the game for Midd-West.

The Mustangs will host Mifflinburg tomorrow at 7 p.m.

Greenwood 2, Juniata 0

MIFFLINTOWN — Greenwood used two second-half goals to top the Juniata Indians in a Tri-Valley League battle, on Tuesday, in Mifflintown.

The Wildcats’ offense controlled most of the game, but the Indians kept them off the board in the first half. At the end of the game, Greenwood outshot Juniata, 17-3.

Juniata hosts Halifax, tomorrow at 4 p.m.

East Juniata 0, Millersburg 0, OT

McALISTERVILLE — East Juniata took on Tri-Valley League opponent Millersburg in a boys soccer match. The defenses were on full display as the game ended 0-0 after overtime.

No other statistical data was made available.
