State College sweeps Huskies in boys tennis

STATE COLLEGE–The Mifflin County Huskies traveled to State College to take on the Little Lions in a boys tennis match. The Huskies fell 5-0, despite playing in some competitive matches.

Gavin Ream took on Daniel Xu in the singles one match and lost 7-6, 6-4. Xu defeated Ream in the first set in a tiebreaker, 7-2.

Trent Shade and Noah Holland battled in their two and three singles matches, respectively.

Shade fell to Josh Davis, 6-0, 6-1. Holland was topped by David Chong, 6-2, 6-0.

In the doubles matches, Quinn Miller and Luke Grove fell to the team of Matt Labosky and Lucas Shaha who took the match in straight sets, by a final score of 6-0, 6-2.

In the two doubles match, Mifflin County’s duo of Jaron Yoder and Owen Shuey were beaten by a strong performance from Matias Mastafa and Jerry Zhang who took the match, 6-1, 6-0.

Mifflin County falls to 0-6 on the season but has shown vast improvement as they have played against some of the best teams in the area.

The Huskies return to action today as they travel to take on Mechanicsburg.

Matias Mastafa-Jerry Zhang, SC, def. Jaron Yoder-Owen Shuey, 6-1, 6-0.
