Mustangs offense powers Midd-West to win over Milton

MIDDLEBURG–Sarah Shupp and Teagan Schreffler carried the load for the Midd-West offense as the Mustangs defeated Milton 14-2 in a PHAC softball game, on Thursday.

Shupp went 2-for-4 at the plate, scoring a run, hitting a triple and driving in four RBIs. Schreffler was a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate with a home run and a double.

Another interesting factor in the game was how aggressive the Mustangs were on the basepaths, as they had a total of 10 stolen bases for the evening.

Lorna Oldt got the win in the circle for Midd-West, going three innings with a strikeout and three walks. Bella Parra then took over and finished off the final two innings with a strikeout and a walk each.

Midd-West hosts Danville, on Monday.

Softball

Mount Union 9, Juniata Valley 4

ALEXANDRIA–Mount Union had a big first inning and never looked back in its 9-4 victory over Juniata Valley in an Inter-County Conference softball game on Thursday.

The Trojans dropped seven runs in the opening inning of the game. Kaitlin Arnold led the Mustangs at the plate going 3-for-4 with an RBI. Both Kadyn Crisswell and Karrigan Woodward went 2-for-4 for the game and Kayshawna Spriggs went 1-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.

Mount Union hosts Glendale on Tuesday.

MILLERSTOWN – East Juniata took advantage of the wild Greenwood pitching in its 15-0 rout of the Wildcats in a Tri-Valley League softball game, on Thursday.

The Tigers were led by Macy Buskey who went 1-for-2 with a three-run home run. Carlee Barrick and Lexi Stuck each drove in runs via a double.

Brenna Watts had seven strikeouts to just two walks in the circle.

East Juniata travels to St. Joe’s on Saturday.

HARRISBURG — The Central Dauphin bats were too much for Mifflin County to handle in its 15-5 Mid-Penn Commonwealth loss on Thursday.

The Huskies had five hits from five different batters in Colby Bodtorf, Jaxson Pupo, Rylan Bailey, Luke Lyter and Conner Cherry. Pupo, Bailey and Lyter each had an RBI in the game.

Mifflin County (2-4) travels to Chambersburg on Tuesday.
