Mount Union holds on to top Central, Huskies fall to BEA

MARTINSBURG–Mount Union survived a late offensive surge from Central in its 9-6 non-conference softball game on Friday.

Morgan Brumbaugh had her fingerprints all over this game in the circle, Brumbaugh pitched all seven innings with three strikeouts and four walks.

Brumbaugh was also one of four different Trojans who had a multi-hit day at the plate as herself, Karrigan Woodward, Kayshawna Spriggs, Abbey Brodbeck all went 2-for-4 for on the day. Sophie Smith homered in consecutive games, hit a solo shot against Central.

Mount Union hosts Moshannan Valley on Tuesday.

Bald Eagle Area 11, Mifflin County 1 (6 innings)

WINGATE — The Bald Eagle Area bats were too much for Mifflin County to overcome in its 11-1 loss in a non-league softball game Friday.

Alyssa Souders went 2-for-3 at the plate for the Huskies including a double. The lone RBI came from Mackenzie Burdge who drove in Gianna Hoppel.

Devanie Condrack got the start for Mifflin County going 1.2 innings with a walk before handing the ball over to Madison Wolfgang who pitched the final four innings with four strikeouts and five walks.

Mifflin County travels to Red Land on Tuesday.

Junior High Girls soccer

Mifflin County 2, Chambersburg 2

LEWISTOWN — Mifflin County fell behind early on but battled its way back to force a 2-2 tie with Chambersburg on Friday in junior high girls soccer action.

Danielle Warfel with an assist from Makenna Spickler scored to cut the Chambersburg lead to 2-1. Then Mackenzie Peachey took advantage of a Chambersburg penalty and evened the score at two apiece.

Ciara Williams and Nessa Lust each combined for 10 saves.

Carlisle 5, Mifflin County 0

LEWISTOWN – Mifflin County fell to Carlisle 5-0 in junior high girls soccer action on Thursday.

Ciara Williams and Nessa Lust combined for seven saves for the game.
