Indians edge MC in tight match

LEWISTOWN–Mifflin County took on the Juniata Indians in a boys tennis match, on Monday, in Lewistown. It was a hard-fought match and it was the Indians who came out on top, narrowly edging the Huskies, 3-2
The one singles match proved to be the closest battle of the entire afternoon as Mifflin County’s Gavin Ream and Juniata’s Adam French took the match into a tiebreaker. French won the first set 6-3 before Ream rallied to take the second set 6-3. In the end, Ream won the tiebreaker, 10-7, to take the thrilling bout between the team’s two heavyweights.
In the two singles match, Gavin Kint picked up the win for Juniata, defeating Trent Shade, 6-0, 4-0. Juniata also took the three singles match as Jack Strawser swept Noah Holland, 6-0, 6-0.
The Indians won the one doubles match as well. The team of Emmett Hibbs and Zach Marshall took down Quinn Miller and Luke Grove, 6-1, 6-1.
Mifflin County picked up it’s second win of the match in the two doubles bout as Jaron Yoder and Owen Shuey won their match against Xane Whitesel and Chadwin Fisher, 6-2, 6-1.

Midd-West 17, Warrior Run 1
BEAVER SPRINGS–The Midd-West Mustangs opened the game with a four-run inning and never looked back in their 17-1 rout over Warrior Run, in Beaver Springs, on Monday.
Hunter Wolfley led the charge as the Mustangs’ leadoff man went 3-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored and four RBIs.
In the blowout win, at least ten different Mustangs drove in at least one run and ten that scored at least one run.
On the mound, Preston Arbogast went the distance, allowing just one run over four innings of work. Arbogast recorded 7 of his team’s 12 defensive outs via the punchout.
The Mustangs move to 6-1 and will host Milton on Wednesday.

HARRISBURG–The Mifflin County junior high school girls soccer team walloped Central Dauphin East 12-0, on Monday, in Harrisburg.
Danielle Warfel led the way, netting four goals for the Huskies. Leah Alexander scored a pair of goals for Mifflin County in the win.
The Huskies return to action today as they host Mechanicsburg at 4 p.m. at Mifflin County Middle School.
