Huskies pour it on, crush the Colts

CAMP HILL — The Mifflin County offense lit up the scoreboard in its 20-1 four inning blowout of rival Cedar Cliff in Mid-Penn Conference softball game action on Tuesday.

The Huskies had seven different players with two or more hits in the game. They also had three players with a home run as well including a grand slam from Josalynn Kibe who went 2-for-4 for the game.

Madison Myers and Gianna Hoppel also had multiple hit games with both also hitting a home run.

Jaylyn Moore, Alyssa Souders, Caitlyn Kick and Mackenzie Burdge also had multi hit games.

Madison Wolfgang kept the Colts in check in the circle for Mifflin County pitching all four innings with nine strikeouts and a walk.

Mifflin County (1-1) travels to Altoona on Thursday.

Mount Union 10, West Branch 4

MORRISDALE–Mount Union defeated rival West Branch 10-4 in an Inter-County Conference softball game Tuesday.

The Trojans scored 10 runs off 10 hits and were led by Kadyn Crisswell who went 3-for-4 at the plate with a double, two runs scored and a RBI.

HERNDON – The Juniata bats struggled to put runs on the board as the Indians fell to Line Mountain 2-0 in a Tri-Valley League softball game on Tuesday.

The Indians had only three hits for the whole game with Elizabeth Gaisor, Olivia Laub and Cheyenne Kirk each collecting a hit.

Gaisior went all seven in the circle for Juniata and had 19 strikeouts and a walk. The first 19 outs that Gaisior collected were all via the punch out.

MOUNT UNION — The Mount Union bats were letting it fly as the Trojans defeated West Branch in six innings, 14-4, in an Inter-County Conference baseball game.

Klayton Willoughby had a big game at the plate going a perfect 3-for-3, with a double and two RBIs.

MECHANICSBURG – Mifflin County fell to Mechanicsburg 4-1 in a Mid-Penn Conference boys tennis match on Tuesday.

The lone win for the Huskies came from the duo of Jaron Yoder and Owen Shuey who defeated the team of Will Gavin and Colin Flack, 6-1 in the first set and then winning the second set 7-6.

EVERETT — The Mount Union boys and girls earned a split in its Inter-County Conference track and field tri-meet Tuesday.

For the boys, the Trojans won in both meets with Bryce Beatty taking first place in both the 1,600 and 3,200 meter run events. Ashtin Spennati placed first in pole vault, Shakur Fortson won the triple jump and Alex Kyle won three events in shot put, discus and javelin.

On the girls side of the meet, the Trojans lost in both meets with Camille Posey scoring the top spot in the javelin event.
