Huskies grab key win over Hershey

From staff reports

HERSHEY — Mifflin County shot especially well from behind the arc, knocking down 10 3-pointers in a 50-35 wire-to-wire victory over Hershey on Friday night in a Mid-Penn Keystone Division girls basketball contest.

“Really nice win for us, really for two reasons,” Mifflin County coach Roger Herto said. “We led wire to wire. We got the lead early and we didnt have a big first but we never gave the lead up. We played pretty solid throughout and really put it away at the end. Defensively we played really well. We played man-to-man 80-90 percent of the time and we really defended well.”

Marissa Gingrich led the Huskies with 17 points, while Brianna Bodtorf had 10 points, Kate Knable scored nine and Hanan Rittenhouse had eight in the victory.

“Offensively we got some balanced scoring tonight,” Herto said. “Marissa did her normal thing but we had a nice balance there and a really good job of spacing and taking care of the ball at the end of hte win. A real nice win that we needed. Hershey really needed it being on the bubble for the playoffs, so to beat them on their floor by 15 is a really good sign for our kids at this point in the season.”

The Huskies will travel to Tyrone on Monday in a matchup of District 6 opponents.
