Midd-West tops Benton, MC adds to meet

BENTON — The Midd-West girls basketball team used suffocating defense and a consistent shooting night on its way to a dominant 52-15 victory over Benton Area on Monday night.
The Mustangs (1-1) got off to a hot start and held a commanding 27-9 lead at the half.
Midd-West hit five 3-pointers in the victory while limiting Benton to just four field goals from the floor.
Six different players scored for Midd-West in the victory. Alexis Walter led the Mustangs with 17 points while adding a pair of threes. Bella Fave added 12 points while Alyssa Snyder and Rylee Shawver each scored eight.
Benton’s Willow Pursel led the team with nine points.
Midd-West returns to play on Friday when it travels to Shamokin Area.

Wrestling
The Mifflin County wrestling team added to its home dual meet against State College, adding Lower Dauphin and Bishop McDevitt into the mix for a quad-meet. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at Mifflin County.
