Huskies drop pair of matches on Friday

WILLIAMSPORT — Mifflin County fell in both of its matches against Southern Columbia and Brookville on Friday night at Williamsport High School.

No. 2 Trey Kibe went 2-0, including a decision over the top ranked wrestler in Class 2A in Gavin Garcia, 5-2 and also won his second match by fall in just 36 seconds. Nic Allison (113) also went 2-0 on the night, defeating Southern Columbia’s Toren Cooper by Tech fall, 17-1 and Brookville’s Cayden Walter by a 6-0 decision. Kyler Everly won both of his 152 match against Southern Columbia’s Brandon Gedman with a 3-1 decision and defeated Brookville’s Coyha Brown by fall in 1:06.

Mifflin County travels to Hollidaysburg on Saturday, where it will compete in a quad-meet against Clearfield, Huntingdon and Hollidaysburg.

The Lions had four different players that scored in double digits with Trey Tusing leading the way with 15 points, Owen Yorks and Matt Hoover both had 13 and Anson Portzline added another 10 points.

CHAPEL HILL — Mifflin County alums Hayden Hidlay and Trent Hidlay each picked up victories on Friday night in No. 3 North Carolina State’s 28-10 dual meet victory over No. 14 ranked North Carolina.

No. 2 ranked Hayden Hidlay scored a 20-5 tech fall win, thanks to a four-point near fall in the second period.

Trent Hidlay scored a takedown with in the second and used 1:35 of riding time to claim a bonus point to defeat No. 16 Clay Lautt, 5-1.
