Mifflin County High School’s Husky Club is seeking officers, MC tennis falls in opener

The Mifflin County Husky Club is in need of four new officers in order to keep the school’s booster club in existence. All four of the club’s officer terms expired at the same time and the club is searching for new people to step up and help maintain the primary booster club for Mifflin County athletics.

The Husky Club supports all student athletes and sponsors the end of the year sports presentations, as well as senior blankets and Husky Scholarships.

The Club will host a zoom meeting today at 7:30 p.m. to determine the future of the Husky Club. The meeting can be attended at https://paiu.zoom.us/j/99294241434.

Girls tennis

Altoona 5, Mifflin County 0

LEWISTOWN –Mifflin County girls tennis fell in its season opener by a score of 5-0 to Altoona on Monday afternoon at the Mifflin County Tennis Complex.

Sydney Kyle, Olivia Kahley and Jalynn Yoder each won games but were to win a set against Altoona.

Mifflin County won at least one game each set.

Olivia Kahley fell to Isabella Frank of Altoona in No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-1, while Sydney Kyle fell to Morgan Stevens in No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-2.

Izzy Wagner and Sky Curry played No. 1 doubles, while Lily Riden and Aija Binder competed in No. 2 doubles.

Mifflin County hosts Hollidaysburg today.

CARLISLE — The Mifflin County golf team went 1-5 on the day, falling to Carlisle, Mechanicsburg, Red Land, Bishop McDevitt and Palmyra, while topping Cedar Cliff in a Mid-Penn golf match on Monday afternoon.

Mifflin County’s Owen Wise led the way for the Huskies, shooting an 86 in the loss. Wise had the ninth best score on the day. Bradyn Eversole shot a 90, while Alex Kline and Owen Mock shot a 96 and a 98 on the evening.

Carlisle won the event, shooting a 324 as a team. John Peters had the lowest score on the day, shooting a 69 on the course.

Mifflin County returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to Bellefonte for a non-conference golf match.

Girls soccer

Selinsgrove 3,

Midd-West 0

MIDDLEBURG–The Midd-West girls soccer team fell in its season opener, 3-0, to Selinsgrove.

Sydney Shatzer scored twice for the Seals, while a goal by Ella Magee put the game away.

Midd-West won the JV game by a score of 2-1.

MOUNT UNION — Mount Union High School will stream all sporting events, with the exception of cross country, on the school district website, as well as the Mount Union district Facebook page.

Volleyball begins its season at 6 p.m. at home today, and no fans will be permitted for the match.
