Mifflin County golf picks up another win, BMS, JMS roll to soccer victories

GOLDSBORO — Mifflin County placed sixth out of the seven teams competing in the Mid-Penn Conference Keystone Division golf match on Friday at Valley Green Golf Course.

Owen Wise was the top golfer for the Huskies shooting an 82 in the match. Wise finished tied for fourth in the overall standings.

Mifflin County (2-10) will travel to face Cedar Cliff back at Valley Green Golf Course on Monday.

BELLEVILLE — Belleville Mennonite scored big in the second half in its 6-0 victory over Meadowbrook Christian in an Allegheny Christian Athletic Association boys soccer game Friday.

“It’s a good feeling to get this group of players a win and begin to develop some confidence,” Thunder coach Brian Renno said.

The Thunder had five different players score at least one goal and four of the goal scorers had an assist as well.

“It’s nice to spread the wealth and get contributions from both sides of the field,” Renno said.

Freshmen Colton Sunderland led the charge for the Thunder, scoring two goals and added two assists along with it for the game.

“He had two really nice finishes from the weak side,” Renno said.

Belleville Mennonite (1-1, 1-1 ACAA) will travel to face Juniata Mennonite Friday.

MCALISTERVILLE — An strong first statement in its season opener for Juniata Mennonite as the Lions roared past Columbia County Christian by the final score of 6-1 in an Allegheny Christian Athletic Association boys soccer game on Friday.

Anson Portzline set the tone for the Juniata Mennonite offense dropping four of the six total goals in the game. The other two goals were scored by Brent Graybill and Trey Tusing.

Juniata Mennonite (1-0, 1-0) will travel to face St. Joseph’s on Tuesday.
