Huskies pick up a win in first match

CARLISLE–Mifflin County picked up a win in its first match, coming in sixth place in a seven-team match. The Huskies finished with a team score of 370. Mifflin County topped Cedar Cliff who shot 436. Carlise narrowly defeated Mechaniscburg by two strokes, 325 to 327.
Leading the way for Mifflin County was Owen Wise with a score of 87, Tanner Ferguson with a 93, Owen Mock with a 94, and Alex Kline and Blake Stringfellow both shooting 96.
Reagan Shafranich qualified for the girls Mid-Penn Championships with a score of 100.
The Huskies return to action on Wednesday when they play at Bellefonte.

NEWPORT–The East Juniata Tigers picked up their first win of the 2020 season on Thursday in dominant fashion as they topped Millersburg and Newport at the Newport American Legion Country Club. The Tigers finished with a combined team score of 318, as Millersburg and Newport followed with 336 and 343, respectively.
Will Orwig and Tanner Barth led the charge for the Tigers, each firing a 6-over score of 74. Both were the low scorers in the match.
Max Lauver shot an 83 and Caleb Kirk put up an 87 to round out the East Juniata team score.
The Tigers will next play at Newport on September 15.
