Indians find success in local duals

MIFFLINTOWN — Juniata won three of its five matches during the Juniata Duals over the weekend.

The Indians won against West Branch, St. Joseph’s and Lancaster Catholic. Cameron Sweigart led the way for the Indians winning all five of his matches. Daniel Painter won four of five.

Juniata travels to Newport Thursday.

Girls basketball

Greenwood 48, Newport 26

NEWPORT — Alli Walton’s presence powered Greenwood over Newport by the final score of 48-26 in a Tri-Valley League girls basketball game Saturday.

Walton scored 22 points in the game.

Greenwood (7-4, 4-2) hosts Millersburg Tuesday.

Upper Dauphin 42, East Juniata 40

ELIZABETHVILLE — East Juniata and Upper Dauphin scored the same amount of points in the second half as East Juniata was unable to make up the two point deficit in its 42-40 loss on Saturday.

Cypress Feltman led the Tigers with 13 points.

The Tigers won the JV game 34-20 with Amara Brubaker being the leading scorer with 15 points.

East Juniata hosts Newport Tuesday.

COAL TOWNSHIP — Midd-West struggled to contain Kaitlynn Dunn in its 60-44 loss to Shamokin in Heartland Conference girls basketball action on Saturday.

Zoe Webb led the Mustangs with 13 points while Bella Fave added another 12 for the game. Dunn scored 20 points for Shamokin.

The Mustangs also lost in the JV game 39-27 with Alyssa Snyder being the leading scorer with seven.

Midd-West travels to Warrior Run on Friday.
