Mount Union topples Everett

EVERETT – Mount Union improved to 2-0 in the Inter-County Conference with a 42-32 victory over Everett on the road Thursday night.

The Trojans (3-2) won seven bouts gaining the bonus in all seven.

Caden Chilcote (126), Kevin Morehouse (132), Jayce Reck (160), Will Harkleroad (182), and Jake Ryan (285) picked up falls. Pierson Price (113) and Bryce Beatty (120) picked up forfeits.

Ryan, second in the state last season, picked up his third fall of the season in five wins.

Mount Union travels to the Penn Cambria Holiday Classic on Friday.

Midd-West 42, Lewisburg 30

LEWISBURG – Midd-West jumped out to a 32-10 lead and held on to beat Lewisburg in Heartland Conference action on Thursday night.

The Mustangs (3-1) won eight bouts with six being bonus point victories.

Conner Heckman (113), Aiden Steininger (126), Ben Umstead (182), Trey Lauver (195) and Carter Sauer (285) picked up falls, Kyle Ferster (106) and Avery Bassett (152) won by decision and Austin Auker (132) took a forfeit.

Midd-West returns to action on Dec. 27 at the Woodbridge (VA) Tournament.

Boys basketball

Halifax 63, Greenwood 61 (OT)

HALIFAX — Despite forcing overtime, Greenwood failed to score a point in the frame falling just short of Halifax 63-61 in a Tri-Valley League boys basketball game Thursday.

It certainly was a shootout with both teams combining for a total of 21 3-pointers in the game. The Wildcats named 14 threes in the game.

Thomas Pyle was the top scorer with 24 points while Avery Morder had 18 and Aaron Bollinger had 16 points for the night.

The Wildcats won the JV game 38-20.

Greenwood (1-3, 0-2) hosts Upper Dauphin Saturday.
