From staff reports

YORK ä Mount Unionás Trey Heffelfinger shaved five strokes off his first-day total and gained 10 places in the final standings after the second round of the PIAA Class 2A golf championship Monday at Heritage Hills Resort.

Heffelfinger shot a 78 Tuesday in a final round that started early with a shotgun start to stay ahead of the weather.

His two-day total was 161, 19 over par on the Par 71 course.

Heffelfinger was among four who ended the round tied for 13th after finishing the first day in 23rd place. He had an 83 Monday.

Skyler Fox of Riverside won the title at 2-over 144, hitting 72 both days.

Heffelfinger was tied with another District 6 golfer, Jack McCollough of West Shamokin, along with Gavin Baer of Lancaster Mennonite and Navin Rana of Sewickley Academy. The finals takes 36 golfers and there is no cut between days.

Heffelfinger, a senior, ends his career on the state course.
