Mount Union takes second at Everett

EVERETT – The Mount Union Trojans went to Everett to play in a three-team match between Everett and Tussey Mountain. With the home-course advantage, Everett pulled out the win by 42 strokes over Mount Union. Three of Everett’s golfers shot in the 90s, the only team in the match to do so.

Trey Heffelfinger of Mount Union was the top medalist of the match scoring an impressive 70, four under par for the course. His 70 was by far the lowest of the match, beating the second-best score by 23 strokes.

“Trey had a really good round, going four under,” coach Matt Fiscus said. “He only bogeyed one hole. He played really well.”

Rounding out the rest of Mount Union’s scores were Karrigan Woodward with a 114, Devin Delo shot a 125 and Raylee Batty posted a 126.

Coach Fiscus is pleased with how his team is playing. Heffelfinger aside, Fiscus sees the hard work paying off for his newer golfers. Just a few matches in, Fiscus sees the improvement in scores.

“Karrigan took at least ten stroked off from the last time she played. I was happy to see that,” Fiscus said. “I think we’re headed in the right direction”

Mount Union will play in the Sinking Valley Invitational on August 26.
