Wirth lifts Wildcats to nonleague win
MILLERSTOWN — Paityn Wirth scored a pair of goals and lifted Greenwood to a 3-2 win over Selinsgrove in nonleague field hockey Wednesday afternoon.
Wirth scored her first goal with less than a second remaining in the first half before notching the first score of the second half.
“We started getting better looks the second and third time in the circle and started picking up the players we needed to,” Greenwood coach Kent Houser said. “I thought we did a little better of a job passing the ball.”
The Wildcats (12-1) host East Juniata today.

ELIZABETHVILLE — Haily Swartz scored four goals and assisted on a fifth before halftime in East Juniata’s 12-0 beating of Upper Dauphin in Tri-Valley League girls soccer.
The Tigers struck for 10 goals in the first half.
Thea Neimond and Kierstyn Fogle combined had two goals and four assists.

Dallas 309, East Juniata 360
MOSCOW, Pa.– A trio of East Juniata golfers shot under 90, but it wasn’t enough as it fell to Dallas 309-360 in a clash between District 4 champions Tigers and District 2 champs Mountaineers.
Will Orwig and Colby Breeding each shot an 84 while Tanner Barth finished with an 88.
“I’m not at all disppointed in them. I’m really proud of them, actually,” East Juniat coach Mike Zendt said. “They never seen the course and had some nerves heading in, I’m sure. They played well.”
East Juniata will be sending Will Orwig to the regional golf tournament Monday at Golden Oaks Golf Club in Fleetwood, Pa.

MIDDLEBURG — Carter Knepp had a say in both of Midd-West’s goals in its 2-1 win over Lewisburg in Heartland Conference boys soccer Wednesday afternoon.
Knepp scored the game’s first goal before assisting on Evan Eppley’s game-winner in the 58th minute.
The Mustangs (14-1, 10-1) hosts Warrior Run Monday.

District 6 Class 3A doubles
ALTOONA — Mifflin County had a tough-go with things at the District 6 Class 3A doubles tournament Wednesday afternoon, seeing both doubles teams get eliminated after the first round.
The Huskies’ Sky Curry and Olivia Kahley fell, 6-1, 6-0 to Dubois’ Alexis Strouse and Alexa Zartman. Teammates Amanda Foltz and Alexis Maxwell lost by the scores of, 7-5, 6-2 to Dubois’ Alaina Heberling and Jessica Askey.
