Mifflin County’s season ends

STATE COLLEGE — With Mifflin County and State College in the win and advance or lose and go home stage of the Little League District 5 Minor 10 softball tournament, it was State College that mustered up the last heroics in a 7-6 walk off win to send Mifflin County home for the summer.

It was a back and forth battle early on with State College getting the game’s first run.

Mifflin County then jumped out to an early 2-1 lead in the top of the second only to see it get erased on a two-run inside-the-park home run by State College in the bottom half of the inning.

That didn’t deflate Mifflin County any as it quieted State College’s offense and jumped out to a three-run lead by the sixth.

State College though pulled off the comeback, tying matters in the bottom half of the inning to set up the walk off heroics.

Falynn Reinard went the distance for Mifflin County, pitching 7 2-3 innings. She struck out 13, walked two and allowed seven hits.

She also doubled as part of a 1-for-4 day at the plate.

Jalee Bodtorf had Mifflin County’s only multi-hit game, going 2-for-4.

Rylee Retherford and Olivia Fisher also picked up hits for Mifflin County.
